Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Maryland’s premier professional ballet company, is excited to reveal an exquisite array of works for upcoming Performance, Innovations 2018, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, April 20,21, & 22.

“As I approach the end of my 15th Anniversary year-long celebration, I am amazed that Ballet Theatre of Maryland’s (BTM’s) 2017-2018 Season is already coming to an end with our most incredibly diverse performance: Innovations 2018 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on April 20, 21, & 22,” remarks Artistic Director Dianna Cuatto. This season finale brings passion, romance, classicism, and edgy contemporary themes together to create an unforgettable finale to a spectacular Anniversary Year!

For the classical lover, Glazunov’s Raymonda Suite with choreography by Marius Petipa premieres featuring the talents of Nicole Kelsch and Mark Andrew McCormack in the leading roles. Raymonda was one of Petipa’s many great ballets choreographed for the Russian Ballet in the 1800’s. He is best known for his creation of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty. In celebration of her Fifteenth Anniversary, Artistic Director, Dianna Cuatto brings back Gottchalk’s Grande Tarantella which she choreographed for the company her first season and creates two new works for the program: Convergence, set to a newly commissioned score by returning composer Ryan Lucas, and Shades of Blue, set to the music of Camille Saint-Saens. In addition, the critically acclaimed and enormously popular Vortex, set to Marc Galibre’s driving, score and inspired by the world- famous vortexes of Sedona, Arizona, displays the energetic, rigorousness of BTM’s dance athletes. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday, 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
